Flamefix is a biological fire retardant. This is impregnatedinto wood by means of an autoclave, making wood fireproof.
The exact ingredients are our family recipe 😉. But the basis is a residual product of a plant. For Flamefix Outdoor this is combined with a biological binder.
With both Indoor and Outdoor you make wood fireproof.
Flamefix Indoor is not fixed in the wood. This ensures that, if applied outside, the fire retardant washes out (this is called leaching).
For Outdoor, a binder has been added to the recipe, which ensures that the fire retardant no longer leaches out. In addition, the wood becomes more stable and better resistant to weather influences (more durable). This makes it the fire-safe solution for the construction industry in the Netherlands.
Flamefix Indoor and Outdoor have been extensively checked and tested by Stichting Keurhout (SKR), Stichting Hout Research (SKH) and by Efectis. These are leading institutions in the Netherlands.
Flamefix Indoor en Outdoor zijn uitgebreid getoetst en getest door Stichting Keurhout (SHR), Stichting Hout Research (SKH) en door Efectis. Dit zijn toonaangevende instanties in Nederland.
Yes, Flamefix is completely biodegradable, due to the natural ingredients used. The product is therefore not harmful to people and nature. This has been tested and certified by Nedlab. Did you know that our product is even more biodegradable than toothpaste?!
The fire class of a product indicates the extent to which a product contributes to the development of fire and/or the formation of smoke.
Fire certificate B-s2, d0
B: The first letter in the fire class rating indicates how flammable a product is and ranges from A to F. A is non-flammable and F is highly flammable.
S2: The letter S stands for 'smoke'. This relates to the smoke development during the fire. Three classes are defined in Nen-EN 13501-1.
s0 no smoke formation
s1 low smoke production
s2 average smoke production
s3 large smoke production
In an indoor situation, a minimum of smoke class S2 is often required.
D0: The letter D stands for 'drip'. This refers to droplets and parts that fall, so that new fires can quickly arise. Three classes are defined:
D0: No production of burning parts;
D1: Parts burn less than 10 seconds;
D2: Parts burn for more than 10 seconds.
The SKH has drawn up a report regarding the required fire class for facades. In addition, this report provides information about guidelines regarding the limitation of fire development and the differences between existing buildings, new construction and renovations.
The SKH report 'Fire class facades with wooden cladding' can be downloaded here (only available in Dutch).
Complementary to this report is the Official Journal of the European Union 2024/1399. This contains a change to the conditions for the classification without testing into classes of material behavior in fire of solid wood paneling and cladding.
The amendment CWFT table Nen 14915’ can be downloaded here (only available in Dutch).
Yes, Flamefix OUTDOOR can also be painted in any color!
Please note: to guarantee the fire class, choose one of the following Remmers products. These have been officially tested for adhesion, color fastness and burning behavior:
Opaque paint?
Then choose Remmers DW-618. Applied 1 or 2 layers.
Semi-transparent?
Then choose Remmers LW-718. Applied 1 or 2 layers.
Pre-aging?
Then choose Gray Protect, LW-718, applied in 1 layer.
Of course you have to continue painting to maintain the color.
Yes, Flamefix Outdoor is fixed within the wood. This ensures that wood with Flamefix can simply be cut, screwed, etc. without affecting the fire retardant.
Yes! The endings of the wooden facade must always be sealed, just like untreated wood, to prevent end cracks.
Yes, it’s a 100% made in The Netherlands. The composition of the Flamefix recipe has been developed by ourselves. The ingredients are mixed in the Netherlands. Our autoclaves, through which the binder is pressed into the wood, are located in the Netherlands. And the product is tested by Dutch accredited bodies.
We prefer to keep everything as local as possible!
